- General Characteristics: Trees, to 25 m high, bark white, smooth. Leaves simple, alternate, ovate, elliptic, lanceolate or linear-lanceolate. Flowers are bisexual and white. Fruit a capsule.
- Wood Anatomy: Growth rings are Indistinct. Vessels diffuse- porous, Medium, moderately numerous, mostly solitary; rarely in radial or oblique chains; tyloses abundant; kino-like deposits sparse to moderately abundant. The rays are Fine and closely spaced.
