- General Characteristics: Deciduous trees, up to 25 m high, bark surface grey to dark brown. Leaves imparipinnate, alternate, flowers unisexual, yellowish-green. Fruit a drupe, red.
- Wood Anatomy: Growth rings are Indistinct. Vessels are diffuse-porous, medium to small, moderately few to moderately numerous, solitary, or in radial multiples of 2 or 3. Rays brownish; fine, seldom moderately broad, fairly close-spaced.
