- General Characteristics: Evergreen Trees. Reaches heights of 15–30 m, trunk fluted near the base; bark scaly. Leaves simple, alternate, flowers polygamous, radially symmetrical, greenish-white. Fruit is a fleshy drupe.
- Wood Anatomy: Growth rings are fairly distinct.Vessels are large to medium, often filled with tyloses, numerous and solitary or in radial multiples of 2-3. Rays are fine to moderately broad and numerous.
