Welcome to KFRI Xylarium Online

KFRI xylarium was established in the year 1979 and has a collection of more than thousand specimens.

The Xylarium at the KFRI houses approximately a thousand specimens collected mainly from India and worldwide. KFRI is committed to making this important collection more accessible to wood anatomists, botanists, foresters and others, wherever they may be, for use in their projects, particularly in forensic timber identification, ecology, paleontology, archaeology, biodiversity, conservation biology, dendroecology, and climate change studies, sustainable development and systematics. To this end, we are building an online Xylarium containing images of the specimens and information taken from their collection labels.
